The brief: Choose a brand and design a product that is in a different but relatable sector than the one they are currently in, display the product on an A3 poster.
Spotify has very few physical products and are known as a streaming service for music. With this in mind I thought there was a large range in options for areas to expand into, giving me flexibility in the direction I want to take the project.
Considering Spotify's dark digital aesthetic complemented with their signature green accents I have designed a chair that fits with their design language and can be used to enhance the users listening experience. The design features include a spherical enclose-like shape that gives the user a sense of privacy and comfort. Also the use of mood-lighting strips around and inside the chair allows for a customisable personal experience while the user is sat in the chair.
When displaying the final product on the poster I used renders of the chair that casted a shadow so that it looked like it was sitting on the page, adding depth to the composition. This including some outline and detailed sketches communicates all aspects of the design that may not be apparent in the render. At the bottom of the poster I thought it made sense to set up a scene of how the chairs would look together giving context to the location and environment of the chair, this is also explained in more detail within the text besides it.
To further the brief I worked with a classmate to make a video advert of the product in a 3D view to better communicate its design features, it also shows how we would advertise the product to Spotify and customers.
